Isabelle shares info on rendering fat!

Hey Rucker Farm Family!

Thought it would be easier to share a little video this week rather than write! We are excited to say many beef shares have found their homes and hopefully those folks are beginning to enjoy from their selection of beautiful meat!

I have been wanting to share more information about how to best use the whole animal. As many of you know, Garrett and I are strong supporters of this way of eating and lifestyle. We honor our animals by doing our best not to waste commonly discarded parts. At the grocery store, modern people have grown accustomed to expect a certain array of cuts and products. Our ancestors did not have this luxury to be so blindly picky! Most likely, they could not afford to eat the way we eat today. The irony is, our ancestors were eating far superior!

Organ meats, bone broth, and animal fats are some of the most nutrient dense foods one can consume. Unfortunately, for several of us, we have lost the palate to enjoy many of these foods or the Standard American Diet has severely confused and damaged our taste buds. For beginners in this concept, we strongly encourage those to get Sally Fallon's cookbook Nourishing Traditions and dip your toes into the research of Dr. Weston A. Price and his discoveries found in indigenous cultures, traditional diets, and dental health. Let us know if you need help getting out of that rabbit hole!

With Sigrid being a month away from eating solids, we want to take you on this journey with us in introducing her first foods! With Toren, we chose to follow these principles of an ancestral, whole foods diet and we are very much pleased and thankful for the route we've taken. Children thrive when given the fuel to do so! It is our responsibility as their parents to train our children's taste buds! Does this mean we don't ever let our children eat garbage? No, in spite of our best efforts, it does slip in! We do, however, feel confident in our children's foundation and building blocks-- their nutritional health will prepare and benefit them for the rest of their life!

Thanks to everyone who made it out to our Winter Walk! Loved getting to meet some new faces!

Hope you all have a beautiful week!
